This past weekend I experienced my first Civil War Reenactment, thanks to Zach, I had a lot of fun, which actually surprised me, sorry Zach. There weren't spectators so I was able to run around the battle field with my present day clothes on, there was no way I would have been able to do it in a hoop skirt. I am working on this for my portfolio since the paper here has covered many times and they aren't too interested in it. Although I might be able talk them into it since I will be in with a unit, like an embedded reporter but much safer since it's not live fire.
I shot a lot of the Pennsylvania 45th and these are a few of the first ones I have gone through, enjoy.
Major General J.L. Chamberlain, aka Doug
Crazy man with guns, Mike aka Hellfire, half the unit is named Mike they all have nicknames
Crazy men with guns, the Pennsylvania 45th
One of my goals for the weekend was to get a smoke ring from one of the three cannons there, I didn't get it.
The three stooges Gordy, Zach and Mike
My Zach
Beautiful sunset over camp, luckily we stayed a building rather than a tent, it rained.

So very sorry but I've had better things...
Today Michelle Obama came to York, PA to rally the people to vote for Barack Obama. I got to cover that it was great fun, I was taking pictures next to a guy from the NYTimes and the ChicagoTrib. I was slightly intimidated but then I can take pictures just as well as they do although they did have a lot more and a lot better equipment than I did. I guess that just means I have less to lugg around.
I was being crushed by 4 very excited women at this moment, you can see another of their victims at the bottom of the pic.
She looks a little green in this one ummm, the darn lighting.
I like close ups.
Yesterday Senator Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania spoke at one of the colleges in York, it wasn't quite as exciting as I though, he talked about taxes. Most of the audience's eyes glazed over or they were about as impressed as this student.
And then on Sunday I got to shoot the Democratic Presidential Candidates, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. It was a live event for CNN so they only let us in before, after and during commercial breaks, I was there for 5 1/2 hours and had about 10 mins. of actual photo taking. But I got to meet a bunch of photographers that are working for much bigger papers and businesses than I (although I don't remember any of their names, crap).
I just have to say to the Universe that I am very grateful that I am in Pennsylvania and my editor has enough confidence in his intern (me) to send me to these assignments.

School Times
Ok so it has been awhile since my last post (thank you for the reminder jarad) I have been busy what can I say. I have been spending a lot of time at the local schools here is a variety of what i have been covering.
PSSA(the state standardized test) Pep Rally at a Middle School, it was louder than any sport pep rally I have attended.
These two won a business competition and were a lot of fun to photograph, they were all over the place it was impossible to get them to stop laughing for more than a second but here they are sitting in... well we had no idea what they were but it was fun.
This guy is in middle school and is going to the state geography bee for the first time to compete to see if he can make it to the National competition. The other paper in town got it wrong and said this was his second trip to the bee and that ladies and gentlemen are why we are the better paper.
The ball is in focus!!!!!
