A Little Rusty

Well I am back to posting. I want to assure those of you who check this and care (Jarad) that i have been shooting since the last post but I just haven't been posting them. I will do much better now that I will be in the office most days. Yes folks you heard right I have a job, a real full time job with BENIFITS. I love that fact, I haven't had Med. insurance for a looonnnng time.

So sit back and get a kick out of what I have done my first two days back in the newspaper world.

So this little girl was the honorary captain to honor her sister who died a couple years ago of cancer. It was a fun assignment for the first one back, she was very shy and very aware of the camera but I like this composition even if it is an extreme vertical, sometimes it just works out that way.

First time shooting field hockey and it was at night under lights, blah. I will get better.

It was a Veteran's information fair and he was one of two veterans there for the hour I was before the soccer game. He was a good sport I followed him around. The photo isn't all that interesting but hey it works.

Yeah for soccer, although I did find a couple times during the game I was watching it instead of shooting it, I have to remind myself that I am there to get the shot.

The End of an Internship

Well I am officially not the intern anymore. Sadly I don't have another job lined up yet so I will be hanging out doing "real" jobs until I get connected up with another paper. I will spend my summer going to reenactments and having fun basically avoiding being an adult yet. Stay tuned photos will be posted eventually.

Coach's advice

Remember how coaches always told you to look where you are wanting the ball to go and it will get there...here is a visual of how that works.

notice the feet they are pointed toward the pins

Still pointed toward the pin but the ball isn't going that direction
He just kept looking at the camera luckily the bumpers where up so the camera and I were saved.

What have I learned

Well I only have a couple weeks left as the intern, although Randy did ask me to stay on a couple weeks to cover while a staff photog goes on vacation. I have been pondering the question have I learned anything while here? The answer so far is YES, I will just have to wait and see what the editors of all the positions I have applied for think.

Ice Cream on a very muggy 98 degree day, he couldn't eat it fast enough to keep it from melting.

Worms don't make great subjects but the kids racing them where very into it.

Tis the season of graduations, as a paper we covered at least 10 of them and there are only 3 of us. Thankfully they were not all on the same night.

Princess Tea Party: Mini-princesses' reactions were all over the board, complete amazement, fear, and not all that impressed. The mothers were very camera happy.

I got overtime on Saturday to go to a concert, the Mark DeRose Band opened for Blues Traveler. It was a great concert and I did a slide show for it, which I will post in a day or too once I find it on the server.

GRADUATION

I did it I am done!!!!!!!

Getting the "diplomas"

Me and the proud parents

I'm a slacker sorry

Quick update, still don't know what I'm doing after the end of June but I am not going to stress over it yet. Here are some shots of stuff I've been working on since the last posting. Enjoy.

A deer broke in to her shop the Friday before Mother's Day weekend by the time I got there Monday there wasn't a whole lot visually but the story was great. The deer went around all the store and didn't break very much, luckily it was in the middle of the night and it didn't get spooked by the drunks who called the police otherwise there would have been a lot more damage.

Yeah I am getting better with the timing of the volleyball getting hit, now if I could just get the flash working correctly.

I loved the colors in her paintings, the bright vivid color against the dark. I really enjoy doing the portraits for the artist cove section, I get to meet a variety of very interesting people.

Yeah for the Olde York Street Fair, which was on Mother's Day, the kids had lots of fun, over 7,000 people showed up and I some how didn't get a photo that showed that, shame on me.
